In 2017, the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Costa Rica, celebrated their 120th Anniversary. For this occasion the Faculty decided to create a permanent exhibition and decorate the walls of the building with the history of Pharmacy in Costa Rica. I worked as the main designer for the exhibition. I designed a historical timeline that would wrap around the stairs of the Faculty, made wall arts for all the heads of department throughout the history of the Faculty, a gallery wall with historical pictures of pharmacies in Costa Rica, how pills where made before and now in modern times and many others.
First, here is the intro piece for the exposition. Located at the bottom of the stairs. The main wall arts for the expo was the timeline on the stairs.
Here are some examples of the timelines. Top 2 pictures are closeups of different parts in the timeline. Bottom picture is how one of the whole arts looked like with the shape of the wall.
We reached out to the University's Archive department to provide us with many old photographs we could use to decorate the walls. These old photos needed to be scanned, cleaned up and blown up to be printed on a size big enough to cover a wall. This art with the old building of the school was placed at the entrance of the Faculty.
This next 2 are the explanation of how pills where made back in the day and how pills are made today. (to the left) and a closeup of the gallery wall with the old pharmacies (to the right).
After the inauguration of the permanent exhibition, I also got the opportunity to work on a poster summarizing the contributions of the Faculty to the scientific, economic and social development of Costa Rica for the 43rd International Convention for the History of Pharmacy to be held in Poland that year.
Lastly, here is a video made by the museum department of the University about the 120th anniversary exhibition.
